MICHAEL WALDEN, DVM

Walden grew up in Charleston, SC. God gave him a love for caring for animals that began when he was nine years old and brought home a chick hatched in his classroom. He raised fish, turtles, chickens, ducks, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, squirrels, cats, and dogs. For as long as he can remember, Dr. Walden wanted to be a Veterinarian. He graduated with a BS in Animal Science at Clemson in 1979 and received his DVM from Tuskegee Institute in 1983. God led him to Greenwood Veterinary Hospital straight out of school. Dr. Walden married his high school sweetheart, Rita, and is blessed with four children: Michael Jr., Lauren, Rachel, and Linh. He is a member of the Greenwood Lions Club, Lakelands Bee Keepers Club, and Calvary Chapel of Greenwood, where he is a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He has 2 English Pointers and a Poodle: Dottie, Sophie, and Minnie (pictured). Dr. Walden loves practicing veterinary medicine and talking with his clients. When he is not at Greenwood Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Walden enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, his church, and God’s incredible creations while gardening, running his bird dogs, and maintaining his tree farm for wildlife.

Together they share their home with many rescued Jack Russells and Daschunds: Sambo, Buster, Oliver, and Bonnie, and cats...lots and lots of cats. Dr. Freese and her family enjoy traveling, football, and golf. They are active members of Abbeville Presbyterian Church, where Dr. Freese serves as an elder. Dr. Freese has a real heart for shelter cats and spends time doing cat neuters and spays at the Greenwood Humane Society every week. She is a board member of the Greater Abbeville Humane Society and a member of the Rotary of Greenwood and the Abbeville Lions Club. On her days off, she takes her fur babies to the nursing home in Abbeville for Pet Therapy.
